01.How do I sign up/sign in?

Sign in to Ask Japan using your Apple ID or Google account. Other sign-up options are not currently available.

02.Is the app free to use?

Yes, this app is 100% free for users.

03.Can I attach a picture to my question?

Yes, you can attach up to 3 pictures when asking a question.

04.From question to answer, what does the process look like?

Post a question to receive answers from locals in Japan. You may receive multiple answers. Choose a "Best Answer" to complete the process.

05.When asking questions, can I use my own native language?

Yes, your question will be automatically translated into Japanese for the Japanese users, so feel free to use whatever language you are most comfortable in.

06.Are there any restrictions on what questions can be asked in Ask Japan?

You can ask questions about anything related to travel in Japan, including food, sightseeing, shopping, transportation, and Japanese culture.

07.How long will it take to receive a response?

In most cases, you’ll receive an answer from a user in Japan within a few minutes. However, during late-night or early-morning hours, there may be fewer responders, so it could take longer to get a reply.

08.Do I have to choose a "Best Answer"?

Yes, please choose a Best Answer for all questions you ask on Ask Japan. Being awarded a Best Answer is what motivates local Japanese users, so your actions influence the speed and quality of future responses. If you don't choose one yourself within 36 hours, the Best Answer will be automatically chosen by AI.

09. What is the "Tasks" button on the home screen?

Tap on "Tasks" to see a list of questions that don't have a Best Answer yet. Choose a Best Answer to remove that question from your to-do list!

10. What is the "Inbox" button on the home screen?

Tap on "Inbox" to see your latest notifications, including new answers to your questions and announcements from the app.

11. How do I edit my profile? (Picture, nickname, language, gender, birthdate.)

Tap on the "Profile" button on the home screen to change your profile settings.

12. How do I change my notification settings?

Tap on the "Profile" button on the home screen and choose "Notification Settings."

13. Can I meet other app users in person, or exchange contact information?

For safety reasons, exchanging personal information (phone, email, social media, etc.) or arranging to meet in person is prohibited on this app. These actions are against the Terms of Service, and may result in your account being banned.

14. Is there anything I should be careful of when using Ask Japan?

Discriminatory remarks, offensive comments, and the posting of any content that violates public order and morals, is strictly prohibited. These actions are against the Terms of Service, and will result in administrator action that may include your account being banned from the app.

15. What should I do if I see an inappropriate response?

Please report inappropriate content using the "..." button below the relevant response. Administrators will review the response and take action in accordance with the Terms of Service. You can also block a user from the same menu, hiding the response.

16. How do I unblock another user?

Tap on the "Profile" button on the home screen and choose "Contact Us" for help unblocking another user. 

17. How do I log out of the app?

Tap on the "Profile" button on the home screen and choose "Log Out" to log out of the app.

18.  How do I delete my account?

Tap on the "Profile" button on the home screen and choose "Delete Account" to completely delete your account.

19.  How can I contact Ask Japan?

Tap on the "Profile" button on the home screen and choose "Contact Us" to contact app administrators. In most cases, a response will come within 3 business days.

20.  How can I request deletion of my personal information?
